About Seminole County Housing Authority

The Seminole County Housing Authority (SCHA) is located in Oviedo, Florida. SCHA was created in 1953 to provide housing for low income families in the Seminole County area. Through the years the Authority has utilized the Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher-Section 8 Program to provide rental assistance to needy families.

Recent milestones included setting up a computer lab for the Academy Place Villas residents, receiving a CDBG Grant to replace the properties sewer lines, making direct deposit available for landlords and receiving a high performer SEMAP score.

The Housing Authority has aspirations to move more families into the Home Ownership portion of the Housing Choice Voucher program and obtain additional funding that may become available through the Family Self Sufficiency Program.

The Authority is governed by a five person commission panel. The commissioners are appointed by the Governor of the State of Florida. Because we care about the community that we serve a slot on our panel is reserved for a resident of our Academy Place Villas.

The Authority works with both the Federal Government and the County of Seminole to provide the best level of service possible for our residents and our participants.
